Silver Surfer - the Bcc box
_______________________________________________________
If you get an email with lots of unfamiliar addresses in
the 'To:' box, you might want to reply to the sender with
a copy of the following:
(And while I'm emailing you …)
I am concerned when a whole list of addresses is put in the
'To:' or 'Cc:' box as this distributes all the addresses to lots
of people that don't necessarily have those addresses in their
contacts list, and whose computers or accounts may be
compromised. The addresses from compromised computers
or accounts get used by spammers.
The solution is to put the sender’s address (your address) in
the 'To:' box then use the 'Bcc:' (blind copies) box for the
list of recipients’ email addresses.
